The Beginning
In 1991, a young educator made a decision that would quietly change millions of lives. She chose not just to care, but to create independence.
At an age when most are still discovering their direction, she discovered her purpose — a purpose rooted not in sympathy, but in strength. Not in protection, but in empowerment.
She envisioned a world where specially-abled young adults would not remain dependent on care, but would earn, create, and live with dignity.
A Pioneering Vision
Guided by the powerful belief that disability should never mean inability, Dr. Khanna went on to develop the world's first structured vocational training programmes designed specifically to help neurodivergent individuals become economically independent and socially confident.
But as we say — "Success comes with numerous challenges." It was never easy.
There were years of resistance, moments of doubt, demoralisation, personal challenges and immense hardship. Yet she continued — quietly, courageously, and consistently. She became a voice for those who were often unheard.

But beyond awards and recognition, her true achievement lies elsewhere.
Om ABODE — A Home for Humanity
Her most important project — Om ABODE, located in Karjat, Maharashtra — is a residential facility recognised globally as a home for specially-abled individuals. Their own home.
Through Om ABODE, she started a special training programme where her true achievements come alive: a young adult receiving their first earning, a parent witnessing newfound confidence, a once-silent individual proudly saying —
After more than four decades of service — and still continuing — Dr. Khanna has not just supported specially-abled individuals. She has helped them build self-respect.
And through this, Gifting91 was born.
